Filter by area, dates, guests, bedrooms and baths. Where a host has connected their calendar, we check whether your dates are actually open before you click.

Every link goes to the host's own domain. You pay them, not a platform. Mention you found them here — most hosts on this list will take care of another host.

Free, permanently. Add your site below. We visit every submission by hand to confirm it takes bookings directly, then it goes live with a verified badge.

We're the Ruscos.

That's us on the right — the family behind Lantern House Digital in Emporia, Kansas. We've hosted since 2020 (our Victorian sleeps fourteen, booked direct at houseofrusco.com), and we build book-direct sites for other hosts.

This directory exists for a selfish reason: when we travel, we want to stay with hosts like you. People who answer their own phone, know where the good coffee is, and don't tack a service fee on top of the nightly rate. We figured if we wanted that list to exist, we should build it — and keep it free.

Every fee this directory helps you skip is a fee we got tired of paying ourselves. We know the 2 a.m. lockout text, the cleaning-day scramble, and exactly how much of a booking the platforms keep — because it's our money too.

Why "Lantern House"

A lantern burning in the window used to mean something simple: we're open, we're home, and you can find your way to our door. That's exactly what a book-direct site does for your property — it keeps your own light on, on your own address, no landlord in between.

How we work

Win-win or no deal. No contracts, no jargon, no hidden fees, and your domain is registered in your name — yours forever, no matter what. The directory stays free whether you ever hire us or not.

The basics

This is what shows on your card in the directory.

The site guests book on — not your Airbnb or VRBO link. No site yet? Put "none" and check the box at the bottom.
If you have several, answer the size questions for your most-booked one.
This is what people actually search. Worth filling in.

These are the fields that decide whether you show up when someone filters. A listing without them gets hidden from filtered searches.

Tick everything that applies. These become filters as the directory grows.

Rates

Ballpark is fine. This powers price filtering and helps travelers self-select.

Optional, but listings offering one get browsed the most.
Booking setup
This is what lets travelers see if your dates are open before they click. Airbnb: Calendar → Availability → Sync calendars → Export calendar. Lodgify, OwnerRez, Hostaway and Hospitable all call it "iCal export" in settings. It only shares which dates are blocked — never guest names or rates. Can't find it? Leave it and we'll walk you through it.
Right-click your best photo on your own site and copy the image address. Skip it and we'll pull one from your site.
